We've done fur, we've done spheres, and we've done water (well, reflective ripples with Materializer) so we thought it was time to do Lightning. Actually, we were asked to do Lightning, so we did.
KPT Lightning does lightning bolts in a variety of fashions. With controls such as 'Zagginess' and 'Wanderness' it's perhaps the most light hearted of the effects, but it does what it sets out to do well.
The lightning is produced using a simple 2D recursive system similar to an L-System. By tweaking the parameters you can create anything from strong, thick lightning bolts to delicate branching bolts. The system also allows unrealistic effects including some curved but smooth bolts and coral like constructions.
All of these shapes are accompanied by an additive glow that can have its colour changed, along with the range of the falloff. |
