Introduction.

This brief tutorial illustrates a couple of undocumented techniques you can use with KPT effects Hypertiling. One is moderately useful, the other one is mainly just fun :)

Clear Underlying Image.

Sometimes when using a plugin it can be useful to be able to clear the underlying image so that you just see the result after applying, rather than the original image showing through areas that have less than 100% alpha. To do this, just hold down the shift key and click the "normal" option under blend mode.

For the following example I created a 2 layer image in Photoshop. I filled both layers with white and applied difference clouds repeatedly to the top layer to build up some detail. When I'd done this I cut some holes in the top layer by making three circular selections and deleting their contents so that the bottom layer was showing through ( the white areas ).

The original image is no longer visible through the cutouts.

Clouds.

Want something a bit different from your original image? In Hypertiling hold down the shift key and in the Style panel select either Cube Sphere or Cylinder as the 'Type'. You'll see that the image will change to monochrome clouds which can give some interesting effects.
