The Preset Manager - Basics The function of the Preset Manager in KPT plugins is to enable you to save and reload settings that you like, a way to say "Hey that looks cool" and actually be able to get back to it later should you want to! It can be a little tricky to understand in it's entirety so this tutorial is designed to give a better understanding of how it works, and how you can use it for best effect. To open the preset manager in KPT 5,6 and KPT effects click, on the button at the bottom left corner ( pictured below ). |

Once you are inside the preset manager you will see something similar to this. I've clicked on a preset in the preset manager to show its preview, name and description. Normally you would just see "New Preset" as the title and the preview of the current image and effect you are working with. This is the preset manager from KPT effects Lightning but it has the same layout as those from KPT 5 and 6. |

Across the top of the preset manager is the title of the preset and it's description ( again this just reads "New Preset" if you don't have a preset selected ). |

The left hand column shows a list of the preset categories available. These are much like pages containing a number of individual presets. |

The central area shows all of the previews of the presets in the current category. |

Along the bottom of the preset manager are buttons for adding, deleting, importing and exporting presets as well as the standard cancel and OK buttons. |
Ok, we've got the basic layout. Now we need to look at how we can actually use it! In the next step we'll look at adding and removing presets. |
